Jewish music plays an important role at TBE under the direction of Cantor Regina Hayut. The Adult Choir, Kol Halev, sings during High Holy Day services, on a monthly basis at Friday night services and at concerts throughout the year. In 2004, the choir toured of Bulgaria, Romania, and Greece where it performed Jewish music in small communities that do not usually have the opportunity to hear performances of this type. Kol Halev is dedicated to the performance of Jewish music of all styles, from centuries-old and contemporary liturgical music to newly commissioned arrangements for chorus and orchestra.  Conducted by Cantor Regina Hayut and accompanied by Dr. Ray McLellan, this 70-voice ensemble has presented concerts exploring major styles of Jewish musical repertoire, including Yiddish, Sephardic, and Hebrew, in arrangements for a cappella choir, and choir with piano, chamber orchestra, and full orchestra.

The Youth Choir performs in services and concerts at the temple and in the community. Middle School Shir Chadash and High School Shir Chadash, the student choral and instrumental ensembles, perform in services and concerts and periodically hold “Cafe TBE” evenings of music in an informal cafe atmosphere. A late-winter concert by all four choirs is one of the highlights of the year. See below for information on our School choirs.

Our Mission

We promote and nurture the beliefs and practices of Reform Judaism by cultivating a love and understanding of our Jewish heritage, stimulating fellowship within the Temple and in the Jewish community, and strengthening the bonds of loyalty with the Jewish people everywhere to bring near the age of universal peace through acts of righteousness in society at large.
