Sisterhood / WRJ News

Welcome to our new website.
Many of the pages you see are new as are other activities and programs which we will be introducing in the future.

Please check back regularly and see what's New at Sisterhood / WRJ.

Small starts:
  • You can join Sisterhood and pay on line
  • You can get the College Connections form and send it in.  Make sure your college students receive gifts from the Temple for the Holidays
  • View the Autumn 2008 Central District Newsletter, Isha L'Isha
  • We are now doing some fundraising through the "For Fun and Profits" page.  See how you can help by purchasing through Hillers, or any of a growing number of merchants we will be adding to this site.

Of Note:
  • Sisterhood received a Thank You note from URJ for the $360 we sent to support the Israeli Movement for Progressive Judaism in its economic crisis.
  • See our new page- Women's Commentary for information on downloading and exploring the Torah portion.
  • Women's Torah Study with Cantor Annie Rose,
Starting in November, please join us in the Adult Lounge on two Monday nights each month from 7:30-8:30. We will be using the new Women's Torah Commentary, including new study texts offered on the web (and handed out in each session.) Our Torah Study includes reading of the text, commentary, poems inspired by the text, and discussion. At 8:30 Annie will offer a 20-minute meditation in the chapel for those wishing to stay.  First meetings are November 3, 17, December 1, 15.
  • Check out our WRJ page for information from WRJ on a number of topics that need your attention.
  • Abraham Geiger College, Germany’s only post-war rabbinic seminary, officially opened its Jewish Institute of Cantorial Arts with a concert and series of workshops in Berlin. Established for the training of cantor-educators to lead services and provide religious education in congregations throughout Europe, the JICA offers a four-year university program in cooperation with the University of Potsdam and Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Jerusalem.  JICA's music library is being sponsored by North America's Women of Reform Judaism and we also provided the Geiger Library with a Torah.
