"We try to help" - The TBE Brotherhood
TBE Brotherhood is a social and service organization at Temple Beth Emeth that promotes fellowship among the men of TBE. We sponsor events for our members, as well as provide support for many annual congregational programs and activities.
If asked for a mission statement, it would be “We try to help.” We are continuously trying to meet the needs of our congregation's men and their families. This has included a wide variety of events and services.
Religious observance: building and maintaining TBE's Sukkah; cooking 1,000 latkes for annual Latke Dinner; building the giant ourdoor Menorah; and building games for Purim Carnival.
Outdoor events: canoe trips, picnics, and softball games.
Maintenance tasks: painting the building entry and adult lounge; and outdoor fill removal for rainwater issue remediation.
Cultural activities: trips to Jewish Ensemble Theater, Purple Rose Theater, and University Musical Society events; sponsoring chamber music and Jewish music concerts at TBE; and the “Limudim” speaker series.
We are always looking for ideas about future events, and for people to help facilitate them.
