Mishpacha - LGBTQ

Mishpacha is an affinity group dedicated to creating an environment where all queer Jews can be full members of their community without diminishing any aspect of their identity. Temple membership is not required -- we welcome all, no matter your level of observance or background.

Mishpacha has two regularly-occurring events: a weekly Queer Torah Study that examines queer themes in the weekly Torah portion, and a monthly LGBTQ Shabbat Potluck for community building, Shabbat ritual, and food!

Members of Mishpacha have also been involved in planning special events around holidays, such as the Trans Day of Visibility and Pride Shabbats, LGBTQ Night in the Sukkah, and panel discussions on incorporating queer themes into your Passover Seder.

For more information about any of these events, how to get involved, or to share ideas for future programming, please contact Ari Smith at brariane@umich.edu.
