The biggest threat to our future is thinking that someone else will lead -- that someone else will solve the climate crisis.

People from across the Ann Arbor area will gather to learn, build community and create momentum for action to address the Climate Crisis. The 1st Annual A2 Climate Teach-In is sponsored by eight Ann Arbor congregations and will be held at Genesis of Ann Arbor, 2309 Packard St., from 1:30 – 5pm. The theme of the Teach-In is “What Can I Do? What Can We Do Together?”

Mayor Christopher Taylor will give the keynote presentation to kick things off. He will be introduced by Rabbi Josh Whinston of Temple Beth Emeth and Reverend Anne Clarke of St. Clare’s Episcopal Church, the two clergy that represent the congregations housed in the Genesis building. The agenda then moves to six different break-out sessions, including What and How We Eat, Government Support to Help You Go Green, Local Advocacy Opportunities, A Zero Waste Lifestyle and the Circular Economy, How Your Green Teams Can Take Action, and Local Climate Justice. The Closing Session will be a presentation by Dr. Shelie Miller, Professor, Director, Program in the Environment; Jonathan W. Bulkley Collegiate Professor of Sustainable Systems; University of Michigan Distinguished Faculty Fellow in Sustainability. The last hour of the Teach-In is dedicated to networking. Over 15 climate-focused non-profit organizations will staff tables to give event participants opportunities to connect and volunteer; free vegetarian snacks will be available.
