Temple Beth Emeth is very excited about being able to take this civil rights trip. As a congregation, we are committed to learning about racism, its impact on our congregation and the broader community, and how we can work to be anti-racist. You may recall we had to postpone this trip because of Covid a few years ago and many of our original attendees will be joining us but we do still have limited spaces available. It has a very exciting agenda (download HERE) and over 75 other groups will be taking this trip this year. We have heard only positive reviews about this trip from other congregations that have been.

Please Note:
COST:

20-24 is $1,300 per person including security cost and tip for the driver
25-50 is $1,100 person including security cost and tip for the driver
Single room is an additional charge of $235
If extra people share in a room:
3 in a room take $60 off the price per person
4 in a room take $90 off the price per person

- A deposit of $500 by January 31, 2024 is required to secure a spot. 
- The remaining balance is due no later than March 1, 2024.
- Special Note: The trip will, unfortunately, have to be canceled if fewer than 20 participants are registered by January 31, 2024.

GETTING THERE:
Since the program starts on Sunday morning at 8:45am near the Ebenezer Baptist Church we suggest that you fly down on Saturday, May 18, 2024.  

If you are flying, Delta has the best schedule and most flights between Detroit and Atlanta. As of today January 1st, the cost is $198 for basic travel and $268 regular economy. We expect these numbers will go up and down, so you'll have to keep track. You will need to take either the airport shuttle buses, Uber, or the Marta (light rail) to get to a hotel.  

If you wish to drive, it is 700 miles to Atlanta and they estimate 10 1/2 hours plus time for meals and bathroom breaks. 

HOTELS:
Atlanta is a popular location for conferences and there is a large conference in town during our arrival.  However, we have reserved 15 rooms with king beds and 5 rooms with two double beds at the Marriott Atlanta Marquis hotel. The rate is $248 including all taxes and fees and will be paid for upon arrival to the hotel. This hotel is in the center of Atlanta, and it is easy walk to many of the attractions and restaurants.   

Our bus will pick us up at the hotel at 8:15am on Sunday morning to take us to our first location, have your luggage with you to put on the bus. 

You are responsible for breakfast on the morning of Sunday, May 19th and dinner on Monday, May 20th.  All other meals are included.
