Rabbi Josh Whinston

It is hard to believe that we are approaching the anniversary of October 7th, and it is even harder to believe there are still hostages being held in Gaza. The ongoing war in Gaza and the tremendous loss of life has been gut-wrenching, and it still seems unclear what might happen next in Gaza. I realize that with major escalations in Lebanon, the media hasn’t focused on Gaza as much, but we must. We must remember the hostages, and we must remember the loss of innocent Palestinian life.

On October 6th and 7th, the Ann Arbor Jewish community will be gathering to focus on the first yahrzeit of October 7th. On Sunday the 6th, there will be an all-day event using art, spoken word, and music as a way of mourning October 7th. On Monday, October 7th, Hillel will have exhibits throughout the day on the Diag. At 6:00 pm, the entire Ann Arbor Jewish community will gather for a memorial service on the Diag. I know this will be an important and meaningful experience for everyone who comes. I hope you will put this on your calendar and join us. There will be plenty of security for those who might be concerned.
